Battery Maintenance

You may need to replace your battery if:

• Your vehicle has trouble starting
• The eye (if equipped) on your battery is dark or clear
• Your battery is more than 5 years old

Common battery failures include:

• Loss of electrolyte due to age, under hood heat or overcharging
• Deep discharges (leaving your lights on)
• Misapplication or using an undersized battery
• Undercharging or loose alternator belt
• Excessive vibration (loose hold-down or mounting)
• Using tap water for electrolyte
• Corrosion
• Freezing
